London Taxi PR (LTPR), an organisation which represents and promotes the interests of the Licensed London Taxi profession, has announced the launch of a season-long football promotion initiative, which will see The Knowledge being promoted at a number of English Football League (EFL), and Essex Senior League football clubs.

The campaign, which runs across the 2024-25 season, will see pitchside advertisement boards in place at the home grounds of Millwall FC in the EFL Championship and newly-promoted Bromley FC in the EFL League 2. These will join the already existing promotional boards that have been installed at Essex Senior League clubs, Romford FC, West Essex and Buckhurst Hill.

“This latest campaign is a fantastic opportunity to promote The Knowledge and the profession to the respective clubs fanbases and visiting supporters, and also those who may view the matches either on television or online,” stated Andy Scott, London Taxi PR’s, PR, and Communications spokesperson.

“We’ve seen that licensed Taxi driver numbers have continued to steadily decline, and we felt we needed urgently to address this by encouraging new blood into embarking on undertaking The Knowledge and seeing the profession as a future career.”

The Knowledge is the test that all licensed London Taxi drivers must study and undertake, which can take between 18 months to 2-4 years to complete, and requires them to learn thousands of streets, roads and routes as well as places of interest, as part of a topographical test, that’s rumoured to be one of the most difficult tests in the world.

“Additionally, the deals will involve both community and local business engagement, all of which is another important area for us to get the message out about The Knowledge and the profession as a potential career. All the clubs we are working with have links in one shape or form with the profession, which again was an important factor.”

The football promotional campaign was supported by London Taxi PR’s regular subscribers and donators, including drivers and businesses, along with additional funding support from A&S Services (Hoddesdon) Ascotts Group and E16 Taxi Rentals & Sales. Their support was greatly appreciated and is rightly acknowledged.

Alongside the pitchside advertisement boards, London Taxi PR will also be having LED and big screen visibility at home games, along with the added prospect of an individual match sponsor or programme sponsor package which has also been built into the deals. All the clubs will also be promoting the news and campaign via their social media platforms, reaching out to their interactive audiences.

“It was important that we sought to gain as much visibility and outreach as possible from these deals, and the prospect of coverage via television such as Sky Sports, ITV, and other broadcasters who show live games or highlights from matches is also a further bonus, as you never who might be watching and see the boards,” added Andy.

The Knowledge promotional boards at Millwall and Bromley FC are both double featured (2 boards), and all have the website and a QR code link to the TfL Knowledge landing page.

Any potential interested individuals can visit the page to find out more information about undertaking The Knowledge, what’s involved and how to sign-up.

Transport for London (TfL) have also been informed of the campaign, and its hoped that London Taxi PR will be able to see if take-up and interest has resulted from the messaging via any increase in Knowledge student numbers, and hopefully visitors & hits to the TfL Knowledge landing page.

This latest campaign announcement follows London Taxi PR’s successful Virgin Atlantic promotional campaign towards the end of last year, along with subsequent newspaper advertorials and promotions which it has undertaken to positively promote the profession and the safety and accessibility of using Licensed London Taxis to the general public.

Since their formation, London Taxi PR has undertaken a series of targeted media campaigns, which are being used to promote the benefits, advantages, and safety of using the iconic licensed London Taxi service to a wide audience.

All the campaigns and publicity that has so far been generated by the company has been funded by fellow London Taxi drivers and businesses within the profession, many of whom have signed up to donate to the cause on a monthly basis, indicating how passionate they all are about their industry and the cause.
