London Taxi PR (LTPR), an organisation which represents and promotes the interests of the Licensed London Taxi profession, recently paid a visit to Taxi Academy on 10th December, to deliver an array of goodie bags for the students who are studying The Knowledge and beginning their career path to becoming a licenced London Taxi driver.
Based at Gett UK’s driver services offices on the City Road in EC1, Taxi Academy Knowledge school is run and headed by Taxi drivers and co-founders, Tom Scullion, who is also a City of London Guide, and Courtney Connell, who has worked for the Public Carriage Office (PCO) as an examiner, testing students on their knowledge of London. They are also joined at the school by fellow cabbies, Tommy Fielder, Lisa Seymour, Sandro Berishvili and Reiss Woodard. The Taxi Academy opened its doors in October 2023.
The visit by Andy Scott, PR and Communications spokesperson for London Taxi PR, saw some 30 goodie bags delivered to the school for the students, with each bag containing LTPR items such as a hot drinks container, lanyard, pens, window sticker and a flyer with details about LTPR, its campaigns and how it works to promote the London Taxi profession.
“This is our way of just providing a little something for the students, by way of encouragement and a goodwill gesture, and also to demonstrate our support for them as they begin their journey,” Andy stated.
“It was good to see and hear about the number of students attending the classes at the school, and to learn that numbers were sufficient enough to warrant the addition of a third weekly class as well,” he added.
“I would like to think that our ongoing promotional campaign for the Knowledge, which has seen pitchside boards installed at a number of English Football League (EFL), and Essex Senior League football clubs, alongside significant social media activity, has played some part in this. It’s also great to see a business such as Gett showing support for the Knowledge and the profession by providing valuable space for the school and the students to utilise as a base for their studying.”
Having been introduced to the students in attendance, Andy gave a short presentation about London Taxi PR, its support and promotion of The Knowledge and the profession, before wishing them well on their Knowledge journey.
Around 100 students overall are currently the Taxi Academy classes, which are held on Mondays 2pm to 5pm and Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5pm to 8pm, all of which are provided free of charge.

London Taxi PR’s Knowledge campaign, which is running throughout the 2024-25 season, has seen pitchside advertisement boards in place at the home grounds of Millwall FC in the EFL Championship and newly-promoted Bromley FC in the EFL League 2. These joined the already existing promotional boards that have been installed at Essex Senior League clubs, Romford FC, West Essex and Buckhurst Hill.
The Knowledge is the test that all licensed London Taxi drivers must study and undertake, which can take between 18 months to 2-4 years to complete, and requires them to learn thousands of streets, roads and routes as well as places of interest, as part of a topographical test, that’s rumoured to be one of the most difficult tests in the world.
Since their formation, London Taxi PR has undertaken a series of targeted media campaigns, which are being used to promote the benefits, advantages, and safety of using the iconic licensed London Taxi service to a wide audience.
All the campaigns and publicity that has so far been generated by the company has been funded by fellow London Taxi drivers and businesses within the profession, many of whom have signed up to donate to the cause on a monthly basis, indicating how passionate they all are about their industry and the cause.
